MOTUPIPI SCHOOL ROCK 'N' ROLL COLLECTIVE

As you may or may not be aware, before I retrained as a teacher I worked as a musician in Wellington for a few years after completing a three year degree at jazz school. As such, I spent a lot of time teaching guitar and ukulele to students of all ages and abilities. This part of the blog is aimed at supplementing the musical opportunities available to students within Motupipi School. Most lessons will have chord sheets, which you're welcome to view or print off. Hopefully this will help the students who participate in the Motupipi School Rock 'n' Roll Collective further improve their musical abilities. Music is wonderful, I hope you have fun with these lessons - I'll endeavour to add to them as time allows.

Instructions for learning a song.
  • Click on the underlined link to check out the chord sheet.
  • Watch the video (if there is one, I continue to update these)
  • Listen to the original
  • Sing along to the original and also while you play the song if possible.
  • Practice for 5 -15 minutes daily

If you are after some ideas of what songs to learn, here are some tried and true songs and waiata that I have found to be exceptionally popular Mr M's Amazing Sing-Along Songbook.
